Elmo's Story

Elmo, born 6/15/21, is a purebred dachshund roughly 20 pounds, who came to us as a very tearful owner surrender.

Elmo is a super sweet little guy who has a quite a few quirks that in time with love and patience would likely continue to improve.

Elmo is a ladies man! For reasons we may never know Elmo is not fond of men, at all. This was the leading reason he was surrendered from his prior family.

Elmo saw a trainer before being surrendered to rescue and it was suggested he not live with men or children at this time as thats an area of great stress for him currently. To ensure we set Elmo up to succeed we are honoring the recommendations from the trainer.

During his time before his former owner Elmo was not introduced to a leash so this is also still a learning opportunity for him. To mitigate the risk of him being lost we are requiring a home with a secured fence.

He is also not fond of a kennel, be it metal or a plastic carrier, so he would do best with a family willing to allow him freedom when they are away from the home.

Elmo does great with other dogs that respect his space, but has not been cat tested.

He is house trained and has not had any accidents in his foster home.

Elmo is current on all vaccines, microchipped, on heartworm preventative and neutered as of 4/27.

Interested parties please submit an application for review. Once your application has been vet approved the foster partner will contact you to discuss further.
