Ellie's Story

Hairless French Bulldogs are believed to have been originated from a French Bulldog, Pug, and Chinese Crested and were designed to be hypoallergenic. The term can be misleading as some Hairless French Bulldogs will have patches of hair on their head, neck, and legs. As French Bulldogs are already prone to a multitude of medical conditions such as skin infections, the hairless quality makes these dogs susceptible to sun burns. Without a fur coat, Hairless French Bulldogs may have difficulty regulating their body temperature and may be even more prone to heatstroke or hypothermia.

DFW French Bulldog Rescue understands the controversy over Hairless French Bulldogs and we respect everyone's opinion on the subject. We welcomed Ellie into DFW French Bulldog Rescue because we saw a French Bulldog who needed medical treatment and a warm home. Ellie has a bacterial and yeast infection she is currently fighting off. Ellie does have hair on her front paws, her neck and head, but the rest of her body has random splotches of hair, she is not a hypoallergenic dog. She was surrendered after continuously trying to jump over her previous owner's fence. Her foster parents picked her up on a cold, windy night and as she was wrapped in a blanket during the car ride home, she couldn't help but show her appreciation with kisses. Ellie loves running around the back yard with her foster friends and has been scouting around her foster parent's entire home. Ellie is not a fan of nail trims and when she is too warm in her sweater, she will gladly remove it herself. As we watch her personality continue to grow, her foster parents have been in complete awe of how sweet and loving she is. For not being in control of how she was born, Ellie has not allowed her predispositions to affect her love for life or how happy her tail gets when she has your attention.
