ELLIE is fostered in St. Louis. We don't transport or ship our dogs, so you would need to go to St. Louis to adopt if approved.<br/><br/>Ellie is a very sweet 6 year old black and white female Shih Tzu. She came into rescue due to her relationship with an Old English Sheepdog that she shared residence with. This was causing Ellie to have indoor potty issues. Since being in her foster home for two weeks, Ellie has steadily improved on the potty issues, even with outdoor weather conditions of snow, rain, extreme cold and icing. Foster dad has worked hard to get Ellie on the right track here, and she is showing that she will follow the rules as long as she has the right parameters in place. Those parameters are regular daily walks, regular trips outside in her fenced yard, and coaxing from her foster dad to "go potty, go potty". She knows the command and follows directions well. Indoor potty habits have reduced nearly to zero. Ellie is crate trained and will not potty in her "home", so it is recommended that she be crated when left without human supervision. <br/><br/>Ellie came from a household with female humans (mother/daughter) and is very apprehensive of men, although she has improved greatly with that situation, due to only having a foster DAD at this time. She is extremely good natured, loves to snuggle with her humans, walks great on a leash and loves to try to climb trees with the squirrels. She is good with other dogs of similar size (foster dad has three) and she loves cats. Ellie would not be good in a home with a large breed dog or another dog with more alpha tendencies. This girl needs a playmate, either canine or feline.
