You will likely need to visit AAC to discuss specific pets and fill out an application, but if they have a pink "Adopt Me" me button, that pet is in foster care. Click that button and fill out the application. Your interest & info will be forwarded directly to the foster home and you'll wait to hear back from the foster themselves. If you do not find this pet on the AAC site, then it is no longer available for adoption.
