Ellie's Story

Ellie spends her days quietly begging. With her eyes and with her paws. Not for food or treats, but for your love. And your company.
If you sit in front of her, she will gently rest her chin in the palm of your hand and close her eyes to rest for a minute. If you start talking to her, she will reach out to your hand with her paw, trying to scoop it up into "pet mode." And if you stop petting her, she will gently nudge your hand with her nose, helping you realize that you never should have stopped.
Ellie is 6-years-old and this is her second time with us. She was adopted out to a family in 2022 and just recently returned to us. There were other dogs in the house and Ellie had a change of heart where that issue was concerned. She would like to be your one and only, as she realizes you only have two hands and would prefer them to be concentrated on her.
Ellie has eyes that reach into your heart and they don't let go. We see many dogs at the shelter and we all have a favorite breed - if Ellie's type was not your favorite, she uses her eyes to quickly change your mind. By the time you leave her, Ellie is your new favorite breed.
All Ellie is looking for is a family to call her own for the last chapters of her life and people with loving hands. The love you show to her is returned tenfold to you by Ellie - a pretty good deal.
Please come meet this beautiful girl. She would like to have a brand new address, as shelter living is not really her thing. You will come away with a new favorite breed and so much love in your heart.
Ellie and all of her friends are available to meet every single day from 9am-12pm, 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton!
Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!

PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

If all goes well and you decide to pursue adoption, you may submit your adoption application. Once your family, including any dogs, have also met with the dog you wish to adopt, your application will be submitted to the Adoption Committee for review. We estimate the pre-adoption process can take up to 14 days or longer. PLEASE NOTE: AAS is committed to finding the best fit for each of our dogs. For this reason, we will accept multiple applications for a dog. In the case of multiple applications, we will select the applicant that is the best fit based on the needs of the dog. Adoption fee for puppy/adult dogs is $300.00. Adoption fee for senior dogs is $150.00. We prefer that adopters be located within 40 miles of the shelter to facilitate post adoption follow up.
