ELLIE's Story
Age/Sex: 4 year 11 month old spayed female

Details: House broken, Crate trained, Obedience, OK with dogs. Needs Fence

Location: Wylie, TX

Email Address: abr.tx@americanbrittanyrescue.org

Phone: Dawn Samstag at 817-247-7071 or Tim Hughes at 512-632-7617

Online Adoption Application: www.americanbrittanyrescue.org or http://fs20.formsite.com/brittanyrescue/form10/index.html

Dog Story
Ellie such an adorable girl, eager to please, has been submissive to other dogs in her pack despite being the strongest and heaviest (44lbs).

In the house Ellie is surprisingly good. She loves to monitor windows for excitement and is great at spotting the squirrels and rabbits. I'm so impressed with her very high energy and hunting drive. The window time has calmed down as she has grown comfortable to her surroundings and is now getting run 2-3x a day to quell the urge.

Ellie would likely make a very good hunting dog with training but is also doing very well as indoor dog. She is house and crate trained. Ellie loves being with her people and has done very well sleeping next to the bed.

She has lived her life in confines of a city backyard and kennel as a breeder dog, so it seems she has learned to express her energy in excited ways, including jumping up on things, and on occasion leapt over 6-foot wooden fence, crawled under a gap in a fence and also leaping up and 'boxing' on hind legs with her front paws in a friendly manner (these have all been improving). Her spay is scheduled July 6th.

She is such a beautiful dog, that would be a blessing to the right home. We'd especially see even faster progress on her manners if she were in a one dog household with consistent training. Currently we have been making strides with recall and 'listening' for boundary corrections to keep her nose from escaping the fun 'agility training device' we strange people call a fence.

This quirky 'nut' called Ellie could thrive in active home where she can run, or go on long walks, and be exercised very regularly, where her owner can work on setting boundaries and consistent positive training. She really has just missed out on getting constant unwavering love & attention; learning to adjust to her people's standards. Ellie has not yet been tested with young kids or cats.
