Elle's Story

Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico's streets. The Meximutt Project, a BAPBR initiative, tackles this crisis at the source—through comprehensive spay/neuter programs and by connecting rescued dogs with loving Oregon families.

Since 2019: 400+ dogs adopted, 3,200+ spayed/neutered.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? Yes

• GOOD WITH CATS? Yes

• GOOD WITH KIDS? Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.

• HOUSEBROKEN? No, not 100% yet -- Please keep in mind that our dogs are rescued off the streets, they are NOT always 100% housebroken and will need time and patience to adjust. Even in a foster home in Mexico, the dogs are often living in an environment with no carpet or grass or living outside. In the house, it is usually tile flooring and outside it is dirt/concrete. Most of our dogs transition well and only need about 1-2 weeks to get on a potty schedule/routine.

• LOCATION: Currently in Guadalajara foster care. 2-4 weeks to arrange flight once adoption is approved

**Meet ELLE**

When Elle was found, she was limping on a fractured wrist, wide-eyed and trembling—a tiny pup who had no idea help had finally arrived. Those first days, she flinched at sudden movements and watched doorways like she was waiting for the next bad thing to happen.

With her big feathery butterfly ears, apricot-and-white coat, and freckled little nose, Elle looked like a scruffy angel who'd wandered in from somewhere magical—one who was looking for a place to call home.

*From Scared to Snuggles*

It didn't take long for Elle to figure out she was safe. "Once she realized we weren't going anywhere, she became our little shadow," her foster family shares. "She follows us from room to room like she can't believe her luck." That anxious pup has blossomed into what her foster lovingly calls a "velcro dog"—she wants to be wherever you are, preferably touching you.

*A Social Butterfly in the Making*

Elle takes a moment to warm up to new dogs, hanging back shyly at first introductions. But give her ten minutes and she's play-bowing and bouncing around like she's known them forever. With cats, there's no hesitation—she's genuinely fascinated by them, approaching gently and often curling up nearby.

*Life with Elle*

At home, Elle is calm and trustworthy when left alone. No chewed shoes, no accidents on the couch—just a patient girl waiting for her person to return. She's still working on potty training and hasn't tried leash walks or car rides yet, but she picks things up quickly when treats are involved.

*Her Perfect Match*

Elle dreams of a home where someone is around most of the day, or where there's a furry sibling to play with, and where laps are always available for curling into. She's not asking for much—just to be somebody's favorite girl.

Could that somebody be you?

***************************************

READY TO APPLY?
