Elle's Story

Elle A187499
24 lb. spayed female, approx 10 months old

-She was a little nervous in the yard with all the loud traffic, but she seemed very interested in being close to me. She looked like she wanted to climb into my lap but wasn't quite sure if she was allowed. When I called her up, she very gently placed her paws on the edge and waited for me to guide her up. It almost seemed like she may not have been used to being up with her humans.

-Once she got some pets and snuggles, she loosened up a little and started giving sweet kisses. She eventually climbed back down and was perfectly content sitting near my feet, just wanting to be close.

-She's treat motivated and takes snacks very gently. She's working on perfecting her "sit" and will offer it sometimes. She isn't showing much interest in toys right now, but she was a good girl with low to medium energy today.

-She's a sweet, gentle girl who seems like she just needs a little reassurance and someone to show her that it's okay to relax and enjoy being loved.

-Will need some puppy training. Please keep that in mind if you want a puppy. They require time and patience to be the best that they can be!

-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

*Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

*Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

*The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30

**We ask that if you're looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog.

**1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
