Ella's Story

Meet Ella

Ella is a 2-year-old, 16-pound Shih Tzu mix whose gentle soul and quiet sweetness win everyone over. She may be a little shy for the first five minutes, but her wagging tail, soft eyes, and pure joy for being petted help her warm up quickly to people of all ages. Ella is a low-to-medium–energy girl who loves nothing more than following her humans and dog friends around the house, curling up in a cozy bed, and sinking into anything soft.

Once she’s outside, her playful side shines. Ella loves exploring her yard, and that’s where her zoomies come out—this short-legged cutie can really run! She enjoys soft toys and plays with them gently, whether you join in or she entertains herself. She walks beautifully on leash, rides calmly in the car, and is always ready for an adventure. At under 3 years old, she has plenty of years ahead of her to be your perfect little sidekick.

Ella is fully potty trained and knows that going outside means “potty party time”—she does her business and then gets right back to having fun. She’s very well-behaved, doesn’t chew things she shouldn’t, and loves her crate. She even goes in on her own to relax!

She’s respectful with other dogs, gets along with every dog she’s met, and would thrive in a home with canine companions, or as the only pup soaking up all the love. She has been around kids and would fit well into almost any home: active families, quieter households, and everything in between.

Ella is working on basic commands and already knows her name, “come,” “no,” and all the important daily routines like mealtime and potty time. She loves attention, belly rubs, and simply being near her people. She has a charming little trick too—she can stand on her hind legs for a long time just waiting for pets… no treats required! She also adores having soft dog beds in every room so she can relax nearby and keep an eye on her humans.

This special girl has been through a lot in her short life, yet she radiates an old-soul warmth and a deep desire to be loved. She does have a heart murmur that should be checked annually and an eye lens abnormality that needs monitoring, but she is otherwise a healthy, happy sweetheart.

Ella is truly the definition of an “easy dog” and will make life sweeter for any family lucky enough to call her theirs. She is ready to bring love, loyalty, and gentle joy into her forever home.

MMDR is entirely foster based. Once your adoption application has been approved, you would schedule a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in adopting, and the foster family. If the meet and greet goes well you would then schedule a time to bring your new dog home. We pride ourselves on matching dogs with adopters. We do not adopt out on a first-come, first-served basis.
