Eli's Story

Meet Eli

Eli came to the shelter on October 30, 2026, after being surrendered by her previous owner. She has now been here 93 days (01-30-2026) with no rescue interest and no adoption interest, and that is heartbreaking for such a young, active dog.

Eli is just over 1 year old and weighs about 40 pounds. She is energetic, playful, and full of life. She should be learning and exploring the world, not growing up in a kennel.

Her previous owner told us that Eli is housebroken and good with other dogs, and we have seen that she enjoys canine friends. We do not have information about how she does with other animals or children, but meet and greets are always welcome and encouraged, so you can see for yourself.

Eli is still learning and can be unsure on leash, but off leash and in comfortable environments, her sweet and affectionate personality really shines. She is curious, playful, and ready to bond with someone who will give her time and guidance.

Eli is not spayed yet, so geographical adoption restrictions do apply at this time. We are doing our best to get all animals spayed and neutered, but we do not have a resident veterinarian, and intakes do not stop. This is the reality of a public shelter.

We were told Eli was surrendered because her owner was “moving out of the country.” Regardless of the reason, Eli is the one left behind, and she deserves better than waiting day after day in a shelter that was never meant to be a long-term solution.

Stafford County Animal Shelter
26 Frosty Lane
Stafford, VA 22554

Hours
Monday–Friday: 11:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Saturday: 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Closed Sundays and holidays

Adoptions conclude 30 minutes before closing.

Please come meet Eli and help us change her story
