Eileen's Story

Meet Eileen, a 4-year-old, 19-pound tripod sweetheart with a huge heart, a second chance at life, and absolutely no idea she’s any different from anyone else.

We think Eileen may be a Cattle Dog/Chihuahua mix, but don’t let that combination fool you! This girl is not a busy, barky herding dog. In fact, Eileen is wonderfully loving, fairly quiet, and 100% convinced her true purpose in life is being as close to her humans as physically possible. Her favorite place in the world is right beside you, preferably curled into your lap.

Eileen does enjoy frolicking outside, soaking up the sunshine, and tagging along on adventures, but she’s just as happy relaxing nearby and being your little shadow. She’s leash trained, crate trained, loves car rides, and will enthusiastically work for treats. She’s smart, social, and incredibly easy to love.

Eileen came to us from the Grand Prairie shelter after sustaining injuries to one of her back legs that ultimately required amputation. But that’s only part of her remarkable story. During surgery, this little miracle girl had a severe reaction to anesthesia and actually died on the table. Thanks to an incredibly skilled veterinary team, Eileen was revived and she has embraced her second chance at life with pure joy ever since.

As if that weren’t enough, Eileen also underwent heartworm treatment and is expected to test negative at her next recheck. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped as well.

Eileen enjoys the company of other dogs and even cats, though she doesn’t depend on having animal companions around. She’d thrive equally as an only pet soaking up all the attention or as part of a pack. She absolutely adores people and is quite the little socialite wherever she goes.

Eileen is one of those truly special dogs who reminds you how resilient and joyful life can be. She has survived so much and still greets the world with love, trust, and happiness.
We can’t wait to find this incredible girl the forever home she deserves. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Eileen at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Eileen's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
