Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.
• HOUSEBROKEN? NOT 100% YET. As a dog rescued off the street and transitioning from living on indoor tile/ outdoor dirt surfaces in Mexico, they'll need time and patience to adjust to a new environment, but most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training.

🐾 Meet Edna 🐾

A month ago, Edna was on the streets with her mom and siblings, just trying to survive. When she was first brought to safety and placed in a crate, she panicked—trembling, so terrified of being confined that she couldn't calm down. If you tried to hug her, she'd freeze and pee herself, certain something terrible was about to happen.

That's what the streets do to a sensitive soul. They teach you that touch means danger, that enclosed spaces are traps, that it's safer to stay small and invisible.
But here's what Edna's foster mom has learned about her: underneath all that fear is a dog who desperately wants to trust, who's just been waiting for someone patient enough to show her the world isn't always scary.

"It took time," her foster says. "Gentle patience, letting her come to me on her terms. But now? I can hug her. She leans into it. That's huge for her."

Edna is still timid—that's just part of who she is, and it might always be. She's the observer in the family, the one who hangs back and assesses before diving in. While her extroverted mom and siblings wrestle and play in the yard, Edna's content to find a sunny spot and stretch out, soaking in the warmth. She's discovered that little sliver of sunlight that comes through the window in the afternoon, and you'll often find her there, eyes half-closed, completely relaxed.

She's not a high-energy dog. She doesn't need constant entertainment or long hikes. What Edna wants is companionship and safety—someone nearby while she naps, a gentle hand to pet her when she works up the courage to approach, the quiet security of routine.

She does depend on her mom and brother for confidence right now. When they're around, she feels braver, more willing to engage. But her foster believes that given time and a patient adopter, Edna would blossom into her own dog. "She just needs someone who understands she's not going to be bouncing off the walls with excitement on day one," her foster explains. "But once she trusts you? She's so lovely. So sweet."

With new people, Edna needs a little time to warm up. She might stay at a distance at first, watching, deciding if you're safe. But she's shown she's capable of transformation—from a dog who couldn't bear to be touched to one who seeks out affection. That's not a small thing.

She's good with other dogs, tolerant of cats (though prefers they give her space), and gentle with children. She's the kind of dog who'd do well in a calm household where she's not overwhelmed by constant activity or chaos.

What Edna needs is someone who won't rush her. Someone who understands that confidence comes slowly for some dogs, and that's okay. Someone who'll celebrate the small victories—the day she doesn't flinch when you reach for her, the morning she comes to you for pets instead of waiting to be approached, the moment she curls up next to you on the couch because she finally feels safe.

Are you the patient soul who can show Edna that she's worth the wait—that the quiet, gentle love she has to offer is exactly enough?

*************************

📝 Ready to apply?
