Ebony's Story

"Hi, there my name is Ebony and I'm so excited to- SQUIRREL...oh sorry, to meet you! Hahaha did you see that squirrel it was huge! Oh yeah so I'm always super excited to get to and go places. Sometimes I get so excited that I forget my handlers are attached to me...but there's so many places to go! I know it can be hard for two-leggers to keep up sometimes, so I try to slow down a little bit when I remember that they may be a little slower than my super fast legs. Huh? OH yeah I LOVE playing. I've got so much energy and fetch is super fun! I can even play it by myself, just by kicking the ball in the air and chasing it. I see that my friends get a little sad though if I don't let them get the ball sometimes so I throw it at them so they can toss it and I can catch again. I could really do this all day. My friends here say that someone out there has enough energy to keep up with me, and will be able to help me learn more manners so I'm really looking forward to that. I would love to have a home and a family with someone who truly loves me and wants to play with me as much as I want to love and play with them. Recently a new pup-friend has moved in while looking for their forever family, and we've gotten along really well. His name is Hammy. I think we could definitely be the best of friends, and what's even better is he likes playing with me as much as I love playing with him! It'd be amazing if we could go to a forever home together, but either way please let my human friends know if you'd like to meet one or both of us!"

***Update: Ebony has been with us for about a year now and while we know she has some special considerations we are truly shocked that no one has been interested in her yet. For months all she had to do in between outside times was to stare at walls, so we even got her a projector, and she actually really enjoys watching movies. Here recently however the best came out of a rough situation when Ham-Hock was dumped right in our front lobby. He and Ebony have caught on like old friends. Each of their play styles fit one another, and they love backyard wrestling. This has really brought out an amazing change in Ebony as we can see how much light he's brought into her life. It would be amazing to find a forever family that could take both; though we know each of them while sad, would be happy that their friend got a forever home if nothing else. Please consider coming up to visit our 2 friends. This could be a wonderful opportunity for a family looking to add two new pups to their family.

Original:: Ebony was found by one of our employees' family members and was brought up here for safe keeping. We were certain someone was looking for her as she had a brand new hi-visibility collar on. With this collar and us later finding out she was an escape artist extraordinaire we were certain she had just managed to get loose on her parents and we would get a message on one of our many posts about her, or see some flyers hanging up around town from her family, but unfortunately several months have gone by and we haven't heard anything. Due to such a long time we've decided it's time for Ebony to find a new forever family who're ready for a new adventure. And Ebony is VERY adventurous. We found out very early on she was able to escape most outdoor enclosures so her new family will likely want to have a very secure outdoor space where they keep an eye on her, or will want to get their exercise in for the day taking walks with her. She can be incredibly strong willed and is recommended for experienced pet parents who have worked on training before. She will thrive with a lot of consistency in her routine, and may even make a wonderful work friend for canine jobs. Her intelligence has made her training very effective once she's given enough direction and consistency. We even have a trainer on board with giving her new parent(s) three free sessions. We know that she has so much potential to be someone's perfect match, and we hope we are able to help her find that person/people.

**Ebony would do best with someone who is an experienced pet parent with knowledge of training, and an earnestness to consistently teach new things.
**At this time we do not recommend her for a multi-pet household. This may just be an environmental issue at this time, but she is currently not the most excited to meet new animals. (With the exception of Hammy who she has really taken to)
**Ebony is probably best suited to an adult household or adults with older teenage kids. Her exuberance may be very overwhelming for older adults and young children.

"I know my perfect someone(s) are out there somewhere and I can't wait to finally meet them"-Ebony

Our office hours are Monday-Friday 7-5:30.
