Earl's Story

EARL
1 – 2 years

Attributes:
Dog friendly
Good with cats
Good with kids,
High energy
Good in car
Snuggly
Not good for apartments
Crate trained
Needs a fence
Working on housetraining

If you're looking for a dog who will keep you laughing, keep you moving, and fill your home with LOTS of love (and a little beagle music!), Earl might just be your guy!

Earl is a handsome, 22-pound purebred Blue-Tick Beagle with a big personality packed into his adorable little body. At just a year and a half old, he is still very much a puppy, and he has TWO favorite activities: PLAYING and LOVING HIS PEOPLE!

Ready, Set, PLAY!
Earl has energy to spare! Playing fetch, tug-of-war, chasing squirrels, and investigating every toy he can find are just a few of his favorite things. He gets along well with other dogs, but fair warning: if you already have a dog, your pup needs to be ready for NONSTOP ACTION! Earl is looking for a playmate who can keep up with his enthusiasm. He also gets along with cats and has done well with children. And those squirrels? Oh, those squirrels! Earl takes his squirrel-watching duties VERY seriously. He is a vocal boy who isn't afraid to share his opinions, especially when a squirrel dares to enter his territory. If you're looking for a quiet dog, Earl might not be your match. If you appreciate the classic beagle soundtrack, you'll understand that he simply has a lot to say!

A Heart as Big as His Personality
As much as Earl loves to play, what he loves most is his HUMANS. He adores people and wants to be wherever his favorite humans are. Once he's had his fill of fetch, tug-of-war, and toy adventures, he'll happily settle down beside you for some well-deserved snuggle time. Earl can get a little sad when his people leave, so he'd do best in a home where someone is around more often to keep him company. He isn't just looking for a place to live; he's looking for his people to love!

His Dream Home
Earl would LOVE a home with a big yard where he can run, play, and investigate all the exciting smells of the great outdoors. A securely fenced yard would be a huge bonus for this enthusiastic squirrel chaser! He could potentially live with another playful dog, provided that dog is ready for his high-energy antics. A family with children who enjoy an active, affectionate pup could also be a wonderful fit. Earl sleeps through the night in his extra-large crate, which his foster mom affectionately calls his penthouse! He has relatively few potty accidents, although he may have an occasional one if he drinks a lot of water. He knows some basic commands and is making progress with leash training.

He's still working on his manners, and like a true beagle, sometimes he hears you perfectly well but has other ideas about whether your suggestion fits his agenda. He'll benefit from a family willing to continue his training with patience, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement.

Don't Let His Age Fool You!
Earl may be a year and a half old, but he's still an energetic puppy with so much to learn and so much love to give. He's silly, spirited, vocal, affectionate, and absolutely full of life.

If you have room in your heart for a playful, people-loving beagle who will keep you entertained, encourage you to get moving, and then curl up beside you when the fun is over, Earl is waiting to meet you!

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
