Earl's Story

Meet Earl

Earl is a quiet, gentle soul who finds comfort in his crate, which he keeps very clean and considers his safe space. As long as he has plenty of cozy blankets, he is content and relaxed when left alone. He is fully crate trained and spends much of his day happily hanging out there.

Earl isn't a big fan of the leash yet and may pull back or try to shake it off, but with each outing he's becoming more tolerant and comfortable. He doesn't know formal commands just yet, but he does understand "outside." Overall, Earl has a low activity level and is perfectly happy with a calm, predictable routine.

Earl has met children ages 10 and 13. He is very shy and won't approach them on his own, but when held, he allows gentle pets without issue. He currently lives with another HEA foster dog and a small Chihuahua and does well with other dogs, mostly keeping to himself. He can get a little jealous if another dog approaches for attention while he's sitting with his person, but he responds well to correction.

While shy at first, Earl is a true cuddler once trust is built. He doesn't often seek out affection on his own yet, but when he does, or when he's invited, he'll happily curl up and snooze for hours. As his confidence grows, so does his affection, and he's known to shower his favorite people with kisses. One of his cutest habits? When he's taken out of his crate, he jumps right into your arms.

Earl is cautious with strangers and prefers to observe from a distance, usually from the safety of his crate. With time, patience, and gentle encouragement, he does warm up and accept pets. He hasn't shown much interest in toys and has a low energy level, though he has surprised everyone with the occasional zoomie session with his dog friends.

And then there are Earl's noises, absolutely adorable. When he wants something, he makes the cutest farm-animal-like sounds (often compared to a goat!). His whimpers sometimes sound like Yoshi from Super Mario, and he's very vocal when it's mealtime, waiting patiently by the pantry door.

Earl would do best in a home with other confident dog siblings to help him feel secure and an adopter who is patient, understanding, and willing to let him adjust at his own pace. He may take some time to settle into a new routine, but once he does, he sticks to it well. Sweet, snuggly, loving, and loyal. Earl is a special boy just waiting for the right home.

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS Adoption is a huge deal to us. We make a lifetime guarantee to our companions. In return, we’re asking you to provide a lifetime commitment once you’ve invited a pet to join your family. We’re excited that you're considering adoption. We look forward to working with you to find the right match! TIMELINE Our primary objective is to assure the correct match for the people and the pets that we’re sending to their forever homes. Our goal is to send dogs and cats home as quickly as we can, while still being thorough. Processing times will vary and are largely dependent on our ability to connect with your references, landlord, and veterinarian. To keep the process moving along, please make sure you’ve done your part: 1) Fill out your application completely - missing information slows down the process. 2) Let your references know to expect our call. 3) If you rent, let your landlord know to expect our call. 4) If you currently have pets, ask your veterinarian to be prepared to release your records. LIFETIME GUARANTEE We make a pact with every animal that enters our care: They’re promised a loving home for the rest of their life.
