Dyson's Story
Meet Dyson

Dyson has spent the past few months at the shelter working hard on his confidence and reactivity training with the help of shelter staff and KP principles. While the world can still feel overwhelming to him, Dyson has made incredible progress and recently passed Level 1 Dog Obedience with a perfect score of 100%!

Dyson is deeply devoted to the people he trusts. Once he feels safe, he transforms into a total cuddle bug who loves affection and being close to his caregivers. He’s also a playful, high-energy dog who loves tossing his toys around and having fun with the people he loves. Because he has not experienced much outside of shelter life, strangers and new environments can still be scary for him. Dyson may bark when approached or when seeing unfamiliar people, but this behavior comes from fear - not aggression - and he will need a family committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence at his own pace.

Dyson has also shown interest in playing with other dogs and will likely do well with a canine companion after a proper, slow introduction. Dyson is currently looking for an adult-only home. He remains uncomfortable around children, so if kids are visiting the home, it is recommended that Dyson have his own safe space away from the activity while he continues to work on his socialization skills.

Like many curious dogs, Dyson also has a history of getting into things he shouldn’t, so he will require supervision around blankets and soft toys and should always be crated when left alone.Dyson is currently receiving medicated baths twice weekly to help manage skin allergies and takes daily anti-anxiety medication to help him cope with shelter life. His future family can work with their veterinarian to determine whether medication should continue in the home environment.

Dyson’s ideal adopter will be patient, compassionate, and willing to continue the training journey he has already worked so hard on. In return, they’ll gain a loyal companion who is eager to love and be loved.

Here's How It Works

We keep it simple.
