Dutch's Story

DUTCH

Isn’t Dutch PRECIOUS? He was a stray that came into the Santa Maria animal shelter back in July. Shelter staff estimated him to be ~10 years old. He was beloved by staff because of his personality & the fact that he LONGS to be with people, softly cries to be with you & held/loved!

He was obviously cared for by somebody before though…he loves car rides & walks, he likes to sleep in the big bed, he’s potty trained, goes easily into a crate, wants to be with other dogs, likes to play, & more.

Our vet did extensive testing on Dutch and found that he has an aggressive malignant tumor known as anal sac adenocarcinoma. Because of his ongoing heart disease & respiratory issues, the vet has advised against putting him under anesthesia for surgery.

Dutch has been with his current foster family 7 months now. He is currently on a probiotic, liver supplement, and doxycycline. Dutch is a VERY special guy and DESERVES a loving home where he can spend his remaining time

Dutch is currently being fostered in Mission Viejo, CA

If you are interested in providing Dutch with a long-term foster and/or forever home please submit an application on our website.

https://www.dachshundsandfriends.org/
