Dune Buggy's Story

Dune burst into the shelter like a whirlwind on paws—nose to the ground, tail high, and absolutely determined to sniff everything. He arrived ready to explore the world one scent at a time. People? Nice, but there are soooo many smells to investigate! He’ll pause just long enough for a few pets before zipping off again, always convinced the next corner has something exciting waiting for him. Out in play, Dune turns into a toy hoarder extraordinaire—chasing them down with gusto, collecting his treasures, and proudly refusing all trades. Why settle for one toy when you can try to carry three?
Mealtime is another serious mission, and Dune dives in with enthusiastic speed, so he’ll appreciate quiet space to enjoy his food. When meeting other dogs, he’s all high-energy charm—howling a greeting, bouncing in with loose, happy wiggles, and trying out his "want to play?" moves (with a little extra enthusiasm). He may be too much for calmer dogs, but another playful, high-energy pup could be his perfect match.
Dune is an adventure-ready dog who thrives with structure, training, enrichment, and an active household that loves a good goofball. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s looking for a partner in fun, exploration, and all things exciting. If you’re ready for a spirited sidekick with a big heart and even bigger energy, Dune is your guy.

This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5 day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff.

Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Michael R. Frey Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
