Duke / Yam's Story

Duke (formerly known as Yam) is back with us and ready for a fresh start

Sometimes adoptions don’t work out, and while it can be disappointing, it also helps us learn what environment a dog will truly thrive in. In Duke’s case, he will be looking for a home without cats so we can set him up for success from the start.

Duke is a 1yo, 36lb Catahoula Pittie mix with the most striking blue eyes and the sweetest personality. He is house trained, great with other dogs, and has been settling right back into foster life with ease. His foster mom says he’s one of THE BEST dogs she’s ever had!

There is truly nothing wrong with him. He is just a sweet boy who found himself in a situation that wasn’t the right fit.

What Duke really needs is someone who understands that being in a new place can feel overwhelming at first. Dogs don’t instantly know the rules or feel at home, they need time, guidance, and consistency to adjust. When we meet them where they’re at and give them that space to learn, that’s when their true personality shines.

We are not looking for perfect, just someone who will love him, be patient with him, and commit to him for the long run.

He is a really, really good boy. He just needs someone willing to give him the chance to settle in and be exactly that!
