Duke's Story

Meet Duke, a handsome golden pit mix puppy with the most beautiful blonde coat and bright blue eyes that will steal your heart in seconds. This little sunshine boy has already proven how strong he is. Duke is our mighty parvo survivor. He was surrendered to a veterinary clinic while fighting parvovirus and his future was uncertain until PFP stepped in to give him a second chance. It was a tough battle, but Duke came through stronger than ever and is now ready to live the happy life he deserves.

Duke absolutely loves to follow and play with his foster sister. Because his recovery required isolation from other dogs during an important stage of development, Duke must be adopted into a home with another dog who is at least one year old. Having a confident canine companion will help him continue to build social skills and grow into a well rounded adult.

He has not yet had interactions with cats. Duke also has not had experience with children. Since he is still very young and learning his boundaries, he would likely do best with older children who understand how to interact gently with a puppy while still allowing him to be playful and curious.

Duke has all the typical puppy energy you would expect. He loves to play and will happily romp around until he is tired, then curl up in a cozy spot near his people for a nap. He thrives in an active home that is ready for fun and adventure. Duke does best with a consistent and reliable schedule. He is very treat motivated and a quick learner, making him a wonderful candidate for continued training with a family committed to helping him grow. He already knows sit, is working on down, and has started leash exposure with short walks inside the house. He is also working on crate training and sleeps through the night, greeting you each morning with the sweetest puppy yawns.

Playful, affectionate, and delightfully goofy, Duke is full of personality and charm. You can often find him stretched out in any sunny spot he can find, whether it is inside the house or outside on the deck. He truly is a little ray of sunshine with so much love to give. Duke is going to grow into an incredible companion, and the family who welcomes him home will be one very lucky bunch.

Looking for a playful cuddle bug to complete your home?
