Meet Duke.<br/><br/>Duke arrived at Helpless Hounds on 07-12-2025 after spending most of his life living on the streets of Pauls Valley, OK. He was first seen in the area about seven years earlier, with kind people making sure he was fed and checked on, but he had never had a home or even set foot inside one until coming into rescue.<br/><br/>Since then, Duke has shown that he is a big-hearted, people-loving dog who enjoys a good walk followed by a solid nap. He is equal parts playful and affectionate, and he has a way of winning people over once he has time to settle.<br/><br/>During a recent boarding stay, staff described Duke as happy, talkative, and energetic. He settled in easily and did well with other dogs, including playful beagle-sized dogs and larger shepherds . His playful energy, gentle cuddles, and unique personality made him a favorite with staff during his stay.<br/><br/>Duke does well with most other dogs in the home and has all the love to give to his people. He enjoys exploring on walks, soaking up attention, and then crashing for some well earned rest.<br/><br/>At the time of writing (1/19/2026), Duke has been waiting 191 days since intake and has experienced several foster transitions.
