Duke's Story

Duke arrived at Helpless Hounds on 7-12-25. Before then, he had lived on the streets of Paul's Valley, OK for his whole life. He was 1st seen in the area about 7 years ago, and over the years several people kept him fed, and checked on him, but he had never had a home or even set foot inside a house before. Now, we are happy to report that Duke is a big-hearted dog with a love for walks and nap time! This handsome guy does well with most other dogs in the home, and he has allllll the love to give to his people!! Duke enjoys exploring on his daily walks and then crashing for a good snooze right after. Hes looking for a loving home where he can stay forever. If youre looking for a loyal companion whos equal parts silly and sweet, Duke is your guy!

We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always try to select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs and try to find the best match for both dog and human. We leave a dog’s profile online until either it has been adopted, or has received several applications. We are a non-profit organization that spends our adoption fees and donations on vaccinations, surgeries, various medical tests, medicines, food and supplies needed by our dogs. Our fees do not cover the overall expenses incurred by the care of our dogs, but they do help defray the costs involved. We thank you for your support.
