Duke's Story

Duke is big, gorgeous Doberman who was given up by his owner because he was too much to handle. We admit that he can be a handful, but with an experienced dog owner, this guy is going to knock your socks off. He is already crate-trained, knows sit (and working on stay, but is is so hard).

Duke is around 3 years old & has never had any training as far as we know. He has been neglected & was left in a boarding facility for over 6 months before his owner finally agreed to sign him over. Instead of sending him to a shelter, the facility let us foster him.

Duke gets along great with all the dogs in his foster home from the 125# Newf to the 5# Chihuahua mix; even with the blind, geriatric little dust mop. But no cats for him! Duke can be persnickity about other male dogs, so a meet & greet will be necessary if you have boys. He also would love an owner who can walk him & take him out in public as often as possible. He is very sociable & is a great co-pilot on rides.

Duke has a blood disorder known as Von Willebrand. It is a clotting issue & it can be a concern if he needs surgery. However, he came thru his neuter without a problem & recovered from the procedure beautifully.

If you are interested in adding Duke to your family or if you have any questions about him, please shoot us an email. dcfoa@yahoo.com or call 812-290-5924 after 5 pm EDT.
