Duke's Story
FOR A ADOPTION APPLICATION EMAIL animalcontrol@whitesidehealth.org

Meet Duke. ❤️

Duke’s story isn’t a short one. He has been here time and time again — and truthfully, we don’t believe it’s ever been by fault of his own. Sometimes good dogs get caught in hard chapters of life, and Duke’s person has been navigating struggles of their own. Through it all, Duke just keeps waiting… and hoping this next time will be the last.

We were told Duke is an American Pit Bull Terrier — and he very well might be — but we swear there could be a little Great Dane mixed in there somewhere. Those long legs and that big ol’ frame have us guessing! Honestly, the only way to solve the mystery is to adopt him, run a DNA test, and report back. 😉

What we do know about Duke:
He is outgoing.
He craves attention.
He likes other dogs.
He wants to go wherever you go.

He’s the kind of dog that would happily load up for a road trip, follow you around the yard, or plop down beside you after a long day. He just wants to belong.

And here’s the shocker — while you’d look at him and guess he’s 3–5 years old, Duke is actually 8 years young! He’s got that playful spark without the puppy chaos.

We unfortunately do not have information from his previous owner regarding children, cats, or whether he is housebroken, as that history was not provided to us. What we can say is that beyond being a big lug with a large presence, we have not had personality concerns. He is affectionate and social. His obedience could likely use some polishing, but that’s something structure, patience, and consistency can absolutely improve.

Duke doesn’t need perfection. He doesn’t need flashy.
He just needs someone who won’t give up on him.

If you’ve got room in your home — and your heart — for a loyal, attention-loving, slightly oversized mystery mix who deserves a true fresh start, Duke is waiting. 🐾
