Duke's Story
Meet Duke

Duke is a 2-year-old, ~58 lb possible Golden Retriever x Gordon setter (he has a retriever coat and face) with a sensitive heart and a deeply loyal nature. He’s a little shy at first, but he quickly opens up as the sweet, loving young young he is and enjoys making new friends, He is a loyal, very sweet, extremely tolerant boy.

Duke:
– Walks well on leash
– House trained (may need reminders while settling into a new home)
– Kid-friendly
– Dog-friendly with all kinds of dogs and very respectful of boundaries. Tolerant of pushy younger dogs who only want to play and older dogs with strong boundaries
– Sensitive and handler-focused
– Athletic and intelligent, eager to learn and connect

Duke does best in a calmer environment with structure and routine. Too much chaos can overwhelm him, but he’d still love a home where he has at least one trusted dog friend (but not a huge pack) or another dog and kids. Duke would like some regularity to his routine that he can rely on as familiar and a space that’s truly his — like a roomy wire crate in the same room as his people and other dogs, where he can rest or take a break when needed. He could be friends with any dog.

As with all of our dogs, Duke’s adoption comes with group training classes, which are incredibly helpful for building confidence, strengthening your bond, and supporting a smooth transition into his new home.

Duke can jump very tall fences, so a strong bond and continued recall training will ensure long-term success. Duke wants both of these and will thrive as a loyal, engaged partner who gets to learn and grow alongside his humans.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, affectionate dog who forms deep attachments and truly wants to belong, Duke may be your perfect match.
