Duke 's Story
Hi, my name is Duke—a short, scarred king with a mighty spirit! I may be low to the ground, whether from being a basset mix or a natural little dwarf, but trust me… I rule my hill with confidence. My legs might be small, but don’t underestimate me—I can fly when I want to. I love to hop up onto the middle divider in the kennel so I can get the best view for people-watching and dog-observing.

I’ve shown the staff that I’m a very calm and chill dog, though I do have my daily zoomies and hops that remind everyone I still have plenty of energy and fun in me. I’ve even been put in a large playgroup with other dogs, and I really seem to enjoy their company—but don’t get it twisted: I’m adamant about keeping my king status!

I know my scars look a little rough, but they’re just part of my story. I grew up as one of the smallest in a home with around 30 dogs, and I made it through with a strong heart and no grudges. I’m tough, sweet, and ready for a future where I’m finally treated like the king I’ve always been.
