Duke's Story
Meet Duke! This handsome boy is the definition of a gentle giant!

Weighing in at over 130 pounds (with room to comfortably fill out a bit more), he’s a big sweetheart who has stolen the hearts of our shelter staff and volunteers. He is as sweet as they come and purely motivated by curiosity, loving nothing more than to explore his world, roam the play yards, and spend his days taking in every single smell.

Because he loves to be out and about, shelter kennel life has been tough on him—he's definitely not a fan of being cooped up and is counting down the days until he has a cozy home to call his own. He also happens to be a big fan of snacks and takes his treats politely, but it may come with some generous drool!

Ideal Home & Health Considerations:
Mobility & Gait: Potential adopters should know that he moves at a slower, gentler pace. He has an unsteady gait, and his front paw tends to knuckle over as he walks. Although he’s known to break into a jog when he’s excited.

Stairs & Daily Movement: Duke navigates life best on flat ground! A home with minimal stairs (or easy ways to limit stair access) will keep him safe and comfortable. He also experiences occasional, brief neurological delays where his body needs a quick timeout—he’ll simply lie down, take a breather, and reset for a minute before getting back on his feet. Often a yummy treat is the secret key to get him happily moving again. And sometimes, he just decides to be a little stubborn!

Home Setup: A fenced-in yard is recommended so he can safely explore at his own pace, though we are open to making exceptions for the right dedicated home.

Dog Friends: He can share his home with other medium to large-size dogs!

If you have room in your heart (and living room) for a big, loving companion who just wants to sniff the grass and enjoy the good life, come meet this special guy today!

If you are interested in Duke, check out our adoption process at https://cnyspca.org/adoption-process/.

Apply to adopt today!

The adoption fee covers the following:

Vet Exam
Microchipping
Rabies Vaccine (12 weeks+)
Spay / Neuter
Heartworm testing (6 months and up)
Kennel Cough Vaccine
DAPPV Vaccine
Flea preventative
Deworming
Adoption Kit
