Duke's Story

Hi my name is Duke, I am around 3 years old and had a rough life until now. My foster mom found me with my sister roaming near her neighborhood. It was scary to trust her at first because I had been shot with rubber ball bullets and I had a dislocated elbow. Complete strangers donated money to have my elbow fixed. I have now learned that humans can be loving and gentle. I love nothing more than to have people pet me and give me a good belly scratch. The doctor says I will heal just fine and be normal again. Duke is a gentle giant who loves people and kids. He had no obedience skills when he came to me but now he walks on a leash with ease and jumps into the car for a ride like he has been doing it all his life. He learns quickly. His adoption comes along with a free private training lesson with certified dog trainer Bonnie Shuey. He is so good and gentle but can easily be scared. Being with other dogs especially his sister Daisy, seems to comfort him. Duke would need a tall fence for containment at least 6ft (such as a privacy fence) because he is a very tall boy. He gets along great with other dogs (he did wonderful at the dog park) and seems to enjoy their company. He also seems to be housetrained. Whoever adopts Duke will be so lucky because he is truly a great dog! As with all our adoptable dogs we do not condone chaining.
