Duke's Story

Smart, loyal, athletic and always ready for his next adventure — meet Duke!

Duke is a handsome 5-year-old, 41-pound mixed breed whose DNA test revealed a combination of Australian Cattle Dog, Husky, German Shepherd and Border Collie. In other words, this boy got a whole lot of brains and athletic ability from his family tree!

Duke is incredibly loyal to his people and loves being part of the action. He's happiest when he's getting plenty of exercise and attention, whether that's heading out for a long walk, playing ball or frisbee, or simply settling in for some cuddles and pets with his favorite person.

He's also smart and a fast learner. Duke already knows heel, sit, stay, down and shake, and is working on a "place" command. He loves jumping over obstacles and we think he'd be a fantastic candidate for agility or another activity that gives both his brain and body something to do.

At home, Duke is potty trained, crate trained and non-destructive, and he can be left home alone. He's accustomed to having access to a yard through a doggy door.

Duke's ideal home would be with an active adult or family without young children who can give him the exercise, structure and continued training he thrives on. A home with some room to run would be a wonderful bonus. With his intelligence and seemingly endless energy, Duke would especially love someone looking for a true companion to get outside, stay active and have some fun with.

Duke is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations and is looking for a family who can give him the time and attention he deserves.

Interested in Duke but want some time to make sure you're the right match for each other? Ask us about Soulshine Dog Rescue's foster-to-adopt program! It gives prospective adopters the opportunity to welcome Duke into their home and see how he fits with their routine and lifestyle before making the adoption official.

Call or text Soulshine Dog Rescue at 619-919-6937 for more information or to schedule a meet-and-greet with Duke.
