Duke's Story

Location: Norwood Young America, MN

Toot too too toot! Trumpets blare! All hail, the grand "Duke" of Minnesota! Prepare yourself to meet this majestic boy, as he truly deserves the royal treatment.

Duke came into rescue with bones sticking out, porcupine quills sticking in, and a wish for the finer things in life - like a soft bed and a good squeaky ball! He has since put on some weight, glossed out his coat, and had a bunch of quills removed. He also gets those finer things!

Just like any "royal", Duke wants his voice to be heard, and will let you know his opinions on being left out of important family meetings, play sessions, or the neighbor's disc golf game. He is vocal and should not go to a home with shared walls.

Duke gets along great with the resident dogs, and enjoys playing with the resident pups (25lb 9mo male, 75lb 6yo female) and mostly ignores the cats, although he can use the occasional reminder they are friends.

Duke, like any regal person, likes his fancy house and does not destroy things when left out during the day, and is way too smart to potty inside. He does know "kennel", "sit", and "paw" and is doing really well learning "stay".

Duke does ok on walks, sometimes reacting to other dogs with his big bark, but is pretty easily corrected. However, with how big and strong he is, he could use some help learning even better manners. He is super treat motivated, so this should be easy!

Duke is a full-body snuggler - he's pretty convinced he's a lap dog! He enjoys movie nights just as much as play time, and is a nice medium energy level.

If Duke sounds like a match, make a request for an audience (meet and greet) with his lordship today!

*Originated from: South Dakota Reservation.

---------------

The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org).

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs over 9 months), FIV/FeLV test (cats - one in the litter), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).

Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved.
