Duke

Duke is a 3-year-old, cream-colored miniature poodle mix who weighs 17 pounds. He was taken in by a Good Samaritan who connected him with our rescue so we could address all of his medical and grooming needs before finding him a forever home. <br/><br/>We started by getting him groomed, which has already helped him feel much better. Thanks Plush Puppy Dog Grooming for your amazing grooming skills! He still has some porphyrin spots (tear stains) on his feet, chin, and body from licking. This is a natural, iron-containing pigment found in tears, saliva, and urine that is simply more noticeable on light-colored dogs, and it should diminish over time with proper, continuous grooming. We have microchipped, dewormed and treated him for fleas. Additionally, Duke has been vetted, neutered, and is up to date on his rabies and DAPP vaccines. <br/><br/>This sweet but shy boy is now looking for his new home. We have noticed he is much less shy when separated from the other dogs he initially arrived with, so we believe he will do best if rehomed independently from them. However, he does very well with all the dogs in his current foster home. We do not know how he reacts to cats or young children. He learned to use the doggy door within a day at his foster home and has not lifted his leg/or marked anywhere inside. <br/><br/>Duke will need an adopter willing to give him time to adjust to his new life using the 3-3-3 rule (3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months) to fully adjust to life in his new environment. Duke is a very good boy who needs to find his person for the next chapter in his life.
