Duke is a wide-eyed wanderer whose tough origin story has not dampened his spirit! This one-year-old Heeler mix was found abandoned in a hoarding situation. This was a scary beginning for a puppy, and he almost was sent to a high-kill shelter where he would have been euthanized within three days. We kind of want to change his name from Duke to Lucky, because one of our fosters in Texas volunteered to take him until he was fully vetted and ready for adoption. In her care, we have learned that he is a funny, affectionate, eager to learn pup! <br/><br/>He has made his way to Virginia to start his next chapter in life. He is a loving smiley boy who would make a great companion for any family. Duke is smart and would thrive with brain games through training such as fetch, stay, wait, make my bed, prepare the coffee...the options are limitless...almost. <br/><br/>He was in a boarding facility while waiting for an open foster home and did not fully master housebreaking yet, but the foster is working on this skill with him as well as many other great doggy manners.<br/><br/>Duke is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and on preventatives.
