Dugout's Story
They say baseball is a game of second chances, and for young Dugout, that couldn't be more true.

This resilient pup—who isn't even a year old yet—literally chose his own name when he wandered into a dugout during a senior league baseball game looking for a team to call his own.

While he didn't have a jersey that day, he found something better: a community that rallied behind him.

His Journey to Recovery hasn't been a simple stroll around the bases. After being rescued from the shelter, we discovered he was dealing with a serious orthopedic issue. Surgery revealed a fractured kneecap, likely from a run-in with a car before he found his way to the field.

He is currently in the "early innings" of his recovery. While his gait might always be a little "wonky," his spirit is completely unbroken! He's a tough kid who has handled weeks of crate rest like a pro, though he's officially ready to trade the bench for some playtime.

The Scouting Report

• Personality: High energy, loves to play, and has never met a stranger he doesn't love.

• Social Skills: A total fan favorite with adults and kids alike! He is also great with other dogs.

• Training: He's a work in progress! Eight weeks of medical rest means he's missed some "spring training" on his manners, but he is already crate trained and walks decently on a leash. He'll just need a patient family to help him learn the ropes.

• Lifestyle: Despite his past injuries, Dugout dreams of an active lifestyle. He wants to be part of the action.

Could You Be His "Forever Field"?

Dugout is currently looking for a Foster-to-Adopt home. This allows him to continue his physical recovery in a loving environment while his new family gets to know his goofy, resilient personality.

Whether his walk stays a little unique or he heals up fully, one thing is certain: Dugout is ready to hit a home run with a family of his own.

Are you ready to coach this brave boy into his best life?

Thank you for wanting to adopt from Hank's Legacy Foundation.
