Ducky (foster-to-adopt)'s Story
Meet DUCKY!

This girl has made such impressive strides in the past few months and has built terrific relationships with several new faces, with whom she allows all handling without issue. Tennis balls are her favorite pastime and she will play for hours with you ONLY IF you have a very secure fenced in yard as she is a remarkably good jumper. She can have some frustration on the leash, mainly in the presence of other new dogs, but would love a home with a nice yard where she gets her exercise there.

Ducky is very exuberant and athletic in her play style and would be best as the only dog in the home as she bonds to her people deeply and loves affection and companionship. As with many of our dogs and can be the nature of longer term kennel life, Ducky will need a relaxed person comfortable and patient for her to build a relationship together. She often chills out in the center quad of the kennel area with several of us, not all people that are familiar to her, and she has shown no concern but we still feel her scope of meeting new humans is small enough that we want her to be given time to meet anyone new so she can blossom and thrive to her best potential.

Since we want all of our placements to be the right match, Ducky is available for foster-to-adopt and we will provide weekly support from our behavior team who can help set up the acclimation into your home and help answer any questions you have that come up along the way.

**This dog is part of another wonderful partner rescue in NY, and is adoptable to a larger distance from us than normal - within a few hour distance from Rochester, NY, and between Rochester and NYC area and closer to the NY tri-state area. These dogs will make great additions to the perfect home and the two rescues are working together to help give them the very best shot. Teamwork at its best!**

Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue.

Please fill out an APPLICATION here for consideration: www.tinyurl.com/appshdr (copy and paste link into browser window if link is not active in your browser).

We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available.

IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience.

PLEASE NOTE: If a dog is listed as Adoptable, he or she is still available at that time. Also, our adoption area is within a several hour radius of us in Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)
