Ducky's Story
Hello, my name is Ducky, and I'm on a quest to find my forever family! I'm about 9 months old and I weigh 50 pounds right now, but I am sure to get bigger. The nice volunteers here at the rescue say they are obsessed with my cute wrinkles!

I can be a bit timid, submissive and unsure at first, but once I trust you, I blossom into the most loving girl. When I feel safe and loved, I like to show my affection with tons of kisses, I especially think everyone should have a clean neck, and I am more than happy to help you with that! I just want to be close to my people, have a paw on them or I really like to lay across you.

I'm a big fan of jolly ball toys and tennis balls—they bring out my playful side and make me very happy! I guess I am also pretty smart, I already have a perfect sit, down, and I have a nice relinquish of toys with the "drop" command. I am very food motivated, so that is a good tool to use to build trust and to teach me new things.

My adopter will need to understand the importance of leadership for an underconfident dog. I can get scared when a door opens or when someone new approaches me. I will need direction from you on the appropriate way to act in this situation. My family should have the time and patience to work through and manage my insecurities. Due to my submissive nature, I should respond well to training as long as I have a leader to rely on for guidance.

I love other dogs, and they help me feel brave. I have a full, loose body approach with other pups and I try to lick them to get them to play with me! Another friendly dog in the home could really help with my confidence building.

I would like it if you gave me a chance and came to meet me. I can't wait to feel safe and have a family to love. I will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old.

If you are interested in Ducky and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend!

*Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
