Duchess's Story

ADOPT DON'T SHOP

Duchess is a young three to four year old, spayed adult female Whippet/Border Collie mix that is looking for a reliable and loving adult companion. This sweet lady had a hard start in life. When she was a puppy, she must have sustained a blow to her jaw, By the time she came to us (the High Plateau Humane Society) in late January, several of her teeth were missing and others had grown in very crooked and needed to be removed. She was also very underweight, and shy of being handled. However, there was no damage to the jaw bone itself, and now that the cooked teeth have been removed, she is eating well, a healthy weight, happy, playful and ready for a new home! She loves to play with other dogs, gets along well with cats, and walks on leash like a dream. She is also house trained! However, she needs a home without any children under 8 years old as their unpredictable behavior frightens her. She also does not like to be picked up, which appears to be a hold over from being mishandled in her previous home. Duchess would be an ideal dog for a household with or without one or more medium to small dogs or cats, and a nice yard to play in. Her owner should be reasonably active and able to take her for walks or hikes several times a week so she gets out and about. Because she can be skittish of loud noises and a lot of commotion, she would be best in a quiet household.

If you would like to meet Duchess, please email HPHS@Ymail.com or call Jennifer at 530-708-3277. Duchess is up to date on shots, micro-chipped and spayed, and her adoption fee is just $180.
Direct Contact:

Dogs: Jennifer Andersen, Dog Program Manager

(c) 530-708-2377, email: HPHS@Ymail.com

Cats: Cat Program Team

(530) 233-9277, email: hphscatprogram@gmail.com

HPHS supports spay/neutering of all pets.
