Drew's Story

The MexiMutt Project is an initiative of Born Again Pit Bull Rescue. Millions of dogs live on the streets in Mexico, and our rescue works at the source through spay/neuter programs, rescue, medical care, and adoption into loving homes.
- Since 2019, we have matched over 500 dogs with loving homes & spayed/neutered over 3,500 dogs in Mexico.
- All of our dogs are currently in foster care in Guadalajara, Mexico. They are listed in Oregon for adoption purposes because our rescue is based there.
- Once an adoption is approved, the dog will fly to Portland, Oregon (PDX). Most dogs arrive within 2-4 weeks after approval, depending on flight availability.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived outdoors, they'll need some time to adjust. Most adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.
- The breed listed is our best guess (since they're rescues!)

Drew's early life started in a house nobody lived in anymore, left behind with his mother and father after the family who owned it moved away. For roughly a month, an elderly neighbor with very little to spare kept Drew, his sister Demi, and their parents fed on whatever scraps she could offer. Their mother, worn thin and sick from it all, later had another litter that didn't make it. By the time a rescuer learned what was happening in that empty house, there was no question that Drew and his family needed to get out.

He came in flea-ridden, tick-covered, dirty, and thin, a six-month-old pup who'd already seen more hardship than most dogs face in a lifetime. Recovery has been steady and visible. "He's doing so much better now, and he's happier," his foster, Romina, says, and anyone who meets him would agree: there's nothing withdrawn about Drew these days.

He greets people the way only a small dog fully convinced of his own charm can, bounding up with excited barks and jumps like he's been waiting all day for you specifically. He loves company above almost anything else, happiest when he's playing or curled up in a lap getting attention. He gets along well with other dogs, cats, and kids, an easygoing pup who seems determined to make friends with everyone he meets.

Drew doesn't need much to be happy, just people willing to give him the attention and companionship he clearly craves. He's spent enough of his short life going without. Could you be the one who makes sure he never has to again?

*************************
Ready to apply?
