Dream's Story

Dream is one of the best dogs you will meet (her foster mom may be biased, but it is still true!) She is a fetching mix of Pit Bull Terrier, Great Pyrenees, Staffordshire Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog, and Border Collie (her foster mom also got her a DNA test). Her birthday is estimated to be around March 2025 and she currently weighs 53 pounds. Dream went through some tough stuff in her early life, and was found by her foster mom in the cold, underweight, injured, and very scared. But over the past 6 months, she has blossomed into the puppy she was meant to be! While occasionally being a rascal and thinking your shoes are toys she can throw to herself, she is also a certified lover girl. She is timid with new people, but warms up quickly and then wants to be your snuggle bug and believes she is a 10 pound lap dog (her foster brother is a chihuahua). Dream and her foster mama are working on walking on leash as she can still be reactive to dogs and humans, but she has improved immensely and will continue to do so with consistent training and loving guidance. Her foster mama has also taken her camping, which she loved and always listened when called if she was off leash. Dream also believes she is part fish and enjoys playing in the water. She goes to her local dog park regularly and while slowly making friends with the other humans, she LOVES new dog friends. Dream has also learned that her foster siblings (the cats) do not like to be chased, so she mostly respects their boundaries and leaves them alone. She also has two rat siblings who love having her as their personal playground. She loves butt scratches, playing chase, and giving kisses. She does not like yelling, baths, and being ignored. Dream knows how to sit, do "middle" (go between your legs and sit), and lay down. She is working and improving on heel, stay, and "boundaries" for when she needs to give another dog space. Her recall is great using both her name, and a whistle taught to her by her foster mama, and she is working on learning the directions of "right" and "left" for walks both on and off leash. Dream has never been aggressive with her foster mama. She was initially food aggressive with her dog brother, Garth, but now they frequently share a food bowl and sort of mothers him. Dream needs some patience and extra love to feel safe, but once she does, you will be her entire world.

Maryland Animal Rescue Foundation (MARF)'s Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are interviewed to ensure a good home will be provided for the dog. Veterinarians and references are contacted and home checks (typically virtually) are performed. We require homes to provide proper vet care and meet all of the needs of the dog. In addition, we make sure the dog is the right fit for the adopter as sometimes the dog they want may not be the right fit for their home and family.
