Draco Plato

Draco Plato was surrendered to ACCT when his primary caregiver's health issues became too severe for them to care for him. Draco Plato boasts bilingual credits, knows basic commands, loves a good game of fetch, and received glowing reviews from his staff friends for his easy handleability.<br/><br/>Draco Plato previously lived with children and was described as "medium energy, playful, and loving." Draco has had good meets with other dogs and is excellent with his leash skills, so we think he would enjoy a combination of enriching adventures and enthusiastic games of fetch. It is a joy to spend time with him. <br/>He walks easily on the leash, is trying to stay house trained, knows sit, and he's not mouthy or jumpy. In the yard he played fetch, returned the ball to me, and seems to know the drop it cue, and he doesn't seem to have any resource guarding with the ball. <br/>He then played with a stuffed toy and had a great time with that. <br/>He knows sit and he is taking the treats much gentler than when he first arrived; he's gained weight, so he's not as skinny or grabby with treats.<br/>We had a wonderful time and whoever adopts him is going to find themselves with a very nice dog. <br/><br/>5/2:<br/>When I first took out Draco Plato, he was interested in sniffing the yard and not much else, but he did come to me for pets. I couldn't get him to sit, he wasn't interested in toys, but he was very well mannered. However, a week later he seems more comfortable; he's become playful, and relaxed, yet still well-mannered. He even engaged in some cute affectionate moves with me...all very tasteful. He sits when asked, using a hand motion, too. He is a little eager for his treats - does a little jumping, but I can't blame him because he is skinny. He played fetch with me, ran some short zoomies, shared some affection, and enjoyed more pets! I am so happy to see him relaxed and enjoying his outside time.<br/>Next step is to find him a loving home!<br/><br/>5/1:<br/>Easy to leash, came right to the front. Walked nicely on the leash, no pulling. Yes, I handled the dog; gentle, calm. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue. Takes treats gently.<br/><br/>4/29:<br/>He was easy to leash and a dream to walk with almost no pulling. He definitely is trying to stay housetrained. Before we walked in the yard, he had a wonderful meet with a sweet little girl named Guava. I don't know if he knows sit, and he doesn't seem to recognize the visual hand cue, but he is gentle taking the treats. He is a little skinny, so it was nice he wasn't grabby. He came up to me several times, turned around to solicit back scratches. His coat is a beautiful gray brindle, and he's got a little scrape on the top of his nose right now that looks like it's healing. I tossed several balls and he feigned interest - ran a short distance after them, and then he stopped, and returned to me for pets. Otherwise, he was content just to meander around the yard taking in all the smells. He was an easy walk back to the shelter and easy to return to his kennel.<br/><br/>Playgroup 4/24:<br/>Hasty entry, immediately greeted Maui with low- to med-level wags and ears back, same toward Butter. Some push/pull play with Butter. Later mounted Butter twice: first was steered off with spray bottle, second was evaded/appropriately corrected by Butter.
