Dr. Pepper's Story

Dr. Pepper is a 10-year-old Lab mix who is looking for someone to give him a soft place to land.

Dr. Pepper came to the shelter after his owner passed away, and we think he's having a pretty hard time understanding how his whole world changed. Since arriving, he's been quiet and somewhat listless. He has a good appetite (which, as a Lab, is probably one thing he can still get excited about!), but not much else seems to bring him much joy right now.

He came in with other dogs and has been good with his canine companions. What Dr. Pepper really needs, though, is a person who is willing to give an older dog some time, patience, and a little grace.

We can't know exactly what he'll be like once he's out of the shelter and back in a home, but we suspect there's a lot more personality hiding underneath that sad face. Ten years old doesn't mean he's finished enjoying life—it just means he shouldn't have to spend his golden years in a shelter.

Dr. Pepper doesn't need an adventure-filled life or a perfect home. He needs a comfortable bed, a quiet place to decompress, someone to love him, and the chance to discover that life can still be good.

He's probably going to be one of the dogs who gets overlooked, but we're really hoping someone sees him. He deserves a soft place to land.
