Dougie's Story

**If interested, please do not send us a message through PetFinder. Instead, please go to our website to fill out an application: www.projectpawsdogrescue.com. The adoption fee is $975.**

Dougie is coming to us from a remote community in Manitoba as part of a litter of 9 along with mom, Zena. He is a Shepherd/Husky and currently about 4 months old.

Dougie is an incredibly smart, curious puppy and very eager to please. He loves to play and is very independent. He is happy to do his own thing and doesn't need constant interaction. He is quite the observant puppy; he loves mirrors and will sit and stare at himself for hours. It's the same with windows—he will sit and stare at all the people passing by on the street.

In the same respect, this little boy is also very happy to come in for a cuddle and snooze with his people on the couch. Dougie loves to spend time outside and a house with a secure yard would suit him well, but it is not required.

Dougie is good with other dogs and although has not been tested with cats or children, we think he would do well with them. He is very much a people-dog; everyone he has met has received an excited trot and a wagging tail.

His fosters have been working diligently with regard to potty training and he rarely has an accident anymore. He's even recently learned how to use a bell to let his fosters know he has to go out for a potty. He is also completely crate trained and sleeps in it soundly throughout the night. He's also learned the cue "house" which instructs him to go and sit in his crate. Dougie also takes all of his meals in his crate as we have noticed some signs of possible resource guarding that we would like to mitigate early on.

Dougie's adopters will be required to commit to professional puppy training as this is a crucial time to instil desired behaviours.

Dougie is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. If all goes well, then we will do a meet & greet with the dog and all family members/pets. If we all decide it's a good fit, then we fill out the adoption agreement and they can take their dog home.
