Dottie's Story
***Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time***

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Dottie, 4 months (DOB 6-20-25), female, Rat Terrier mix, currently 6 pounds. She will continue to grow, but we expect her to be a small size when full grown. She is in a foster home HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport to a city posted on Petfinder once an adopter is approved. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation.

Meet Dottie — the definition of puppy energy in a pint-sized package! Dottie and her sister were surrendered by their previous owner, and she’s now learning all the important skills that weren’t practiced in her first home. She’s not fully housebroken yet and is working on crate training, so her new family will need to continue helping her learn the ropes.

Dottie is the more reserved of the two sisters, but don’t let that fool you — once she’s comfortable, she’s zipping around, wrestling with any dog who will engage (willing or not!). She’s confident, curious, and very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding.

She currently lives with dogs of all sizes and does great with them. We haven’t seen her around cats or kids, but we’d guess she’d want to play with a cat. Any children in the home should be prepared for typical puppy antics — jumping up, nipping, and snagging clothing or fingers with those tiny (but mighty!) teeth.

Dottie is looking for an active home that understands puppy development and is committed to providing guidance, structure, and consistent training. Because she’s still young, we’re seeking adopters who are home more than they’re away — not working outside the home full-time unless there’s a plan in place for potty breaks and playtime.

If you’re ready to welcome a lively, loving little learner into your home, Dottie just might be your girl!

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***

Interested in applying to adopt her?
