Dottie's Story
Name: Dottie

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier/Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix

Sex/age/weight: Female/ estimated DOB 01/2025 /50 lbs and growing

Vetting: Up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and on preventatives

House trained/crate trained: Dottie is both house-trained and crate-trained, making her an easy addition to your routine. She's comfortable resting in her crate and does well with a consistent schedule for potty breaks. She's a smart pup who's eager to please and already has a great start on her training!

Dogs/cats/children: Dottie is dog-friendly and loves having canine companions to play and learn from. She's also cat-friendly with supervision--she's still young and sometimes thinks chasing is a game, but she's learning quickly! Around older children, she does best with slow introductions. She can be a little timid at first, but once she feels safe, her gentle and affectionate personality shines through. With a little patience and understanding, she blossoms into a loyal and loving friend.

Energy level: Dottie has a medium, typical puppy energy--playful and curious without being overwhelming. She loves a good game of fetch and enjoys going for walks to explore the world around her. After some activity, she's happy to settle down for a nap or cuddle. With a bit of daily exercise and playtime, she's a well-balanced and content companion.

Before FAR/my history: Dottie was found as a stray in Jones County. She was underweight and covered in fleas and ticks. Thankfully she found her way into a FAR foster's neighborhood, so now she's free of fleas and ticks, has a full belly, and a comfortable bed to sleep in while she waits for her Furever home.

Training status/Commands I know: This smart girl has an excellent foundation in training and is eager to keep learning! She has been taught leash manners and is familiar with both prong collar and e-collar tools, which have helped her build clear communication and confidence. She knows several commands including "sit," "down," "place," "crate," and has a reliable recall. She also understands "out" (for leaving things alone or taking a break from play), and she's been taught to wait at open doors and her crate until she's called by name. She's a quick learner and thrives with consistent, positive guidance.

Things I like: Dottie is a fun-loving pup who enjoys playing fetch, going for walks, and romping around with her foster dog siblings. She loves going on outings and exploring new places with her people. Treats are a big motivator for her, which makes training both easy and fun! She also adores attention and affection--especially belly rubs and pets from her foster mom. Whether she's out on an adventure or curled up for snuggles, she's happiest when she's with her people.

Things that make my humans happy: What I love most about Dottie is how sweet and happy she is--she always has a wagging tail and a cheerful energy that's contagious. She's truly such a fun puppy to have around, bringing playfulness and light into the home. She gets along wonderfully with the dogs and cats here, and it's been such a joy to see how well she fits in. She's also incredibly smart, picking up on training and routines quickly. Watching her grow in confidence each day has been one of the most rewarding parts of fostering her--she's blossoming into a well-rounded, loving companion, and will be such a special addition to her forever family.

Ideal family/home: Dottie's ideal home would be one that can provide a balance of structure, affection, and fun. She would do well with a family or individual who is committed to continuing her training and helping her build on the great foundation she already has. She'd love a home with a confident dog friend to play and learn from, though she'd also thrive as a solo pup with engaged humans. Because she can be a little shy around new people, especially kids, she'd do best in a home with older children and slow, gentle introductions. She's young and active, so she'll need daily exercise, enrichment, and opportunities to get out and explore. Most of all, she needs a family that will be patient, consistent, and loving--someone who will enjoy watching her blossom just as much as we have.

If you are interested in giving Dottie a forever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html It is best to submit an application through a computer.
