Dot's Story

Meet Dot! This precious little girl is proof that a rough beginning doesn't have to define your future. At around a year old and 36 pounds, Dot came from a property where she and many other dogs lived exclusively outdoors. She had already had a litter of four puppies (all of whom have been adopted!) and now it's Dot's turn to discover just how wonderful life can be.

When Dot first arrived in foster care, she was understandably timid and unsure of this strange new world. But this brave little girl has been blossoming every day. She has learned to sit, uses a doggy door, is quickly picking up house and crate training, and walks beautifully on a leash. In fact, she has such lovely leash manners that she puts her furry foster brother to shame on their neighborhood walks! Dot is still cautious around new people, places, sounds, and experiences, but gentle guidance, patience, and praise help her find her confidence.

Once Dot knows you, prepare to have a little shadow! She loves being close to her person and will happily stick by your side. If you leave her sight and don't allow her to tag along, she'll patiently wait for you to return. She is currently living with young, rambunctious kids and has been wonderful with them, remaining generally unbothered by their noise and antics.

Dot has always lived alongside other dogs, and she's recently discovered that they can be even more fun than she realized! Her playful one-year-old foster brother has taught her all about the joys of chasing and wrestling, and she's becoming quite the enthusiastic playmate. Dot would love a canine sibling of any age or size, but she could also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. She is currently learning how to be comfortable around cats, and we think she may do well with them given patient, slow, and positive introductions.

Dot is still a little underweight and her itchy skin is healing, but she is well on her way to being the happy, healthy girl she was always meant to be. Watching her glow up in foster care has been incredibly rewarding. There's still plenty for this sweet girl to learn, but she is a quick study when someone gives her the confidence and encouragement she needs.

Dot is looking for a patient family who will introduce her to the world at her own pace and celebrate all of her little victories along the way. In return, she'll give you gentle kisses, a loyal shadow at your side, and a whole lot of love.

If you are interested in Dot, click Apply for Adoption!
