Dory's Story
Dory — Peaceful Soul, Toy Auditor, Ready for Her Forever Home
Dory needs a home, and we are not being dramatic when we say she cannot wait — this girl deserves better than uncertainty, and she deserves it now.
Here is what we can tell you about her while we have your attention: Dory is the kind of dog that makes everything around her feel a little quieter. She is low key, gentle, and completely unbothered by the noise of the world — dogs barking, people passing, general life chaos. None of it touches her. She is too busy minding her own business, soaking up whatever sunshine is available, and staying close to her person like that is the only job that matters. In a lot of ways, it is.
She is also, and we say this with full seriousness, absolutely hilarious. Dory carries her toys everywhere — outside and back in, every single time, without exception. She once emptied her entire toy box, surveyed the situation with the focused energy of a tiny CEO, assessed each item individually, and returned approximately half of them. Her criteria remain unknown. Her commitment to the process is unimpeachable. We respect it entirely.
Dory is crate trained and non-reactive to other dogs on walks and through barriers, which makes her an exceptionally easy dog to have in your world. She is playful once she is comfortable, and watching her fun side come out is genuinely one of the better things we have witnessed. She is working on potty training — she is smart and obedient and doing her best, currently navigating some digestive issues that have made the process trickier, but she is improving every day and will get there with patience and consistency.
When it comes to other dogs in the home, Dory needs to be the only one, or requires an extremely slow and experienced introduction with no rushing and no exceptions. She is heartworm positive, and her adopter will need to support her through treatment — which means committing to the calm, stable environment she needs to heal properly, and the time and love to do it right. She is absolutely worth that commitment.
Dory is not asking for much. Some sunshine, a person to stay close to, and the occasional opportunity to conduct a thorough toy inventory. She is such a good girl, and she is ready to show the right person exactly who she is.

Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.

APPLY on our WEBSITE:
Rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
Rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster
