Dorothy - ADOPTED's Story
I’m Dorothy, my foster Auntie DeeDee gave me that name as where I came from and where I’m headed…"there is going to be no place like home."

I am a very sweet adult girl that wants to be part of a loving home as I have lots of love to share.

From Auntie DeeDee, "I love how good you are overnight in the kitchen (no crate) knowing it’s quiet time, how you’re under my feet when I’m doing dishes and you trust me to step over or around you, I can make breakfast lunch or dinner and you are not begging or in the way, that you let me brush you and touch your paws and kiss your head, how you trust me to dry you off from coming in from the rain and wiping your paws."

Dorothy enjoys going for walks and sniffing along the way. Sometimes we walk alone and other times we have Deedra (my dog) walk with us. As a timid girl I’ve been surprised how great she’s been when vehicles drive by. She may put the brakes on when kids are out playing as she doesn’t know the loud voices or toys being played with. Has not gone nose to nose with another dog on walk as I haven’t known the owner to trust the meeting. It’s been fun to watch her outside watching flocks of turkeys, hearing airplanes overhead, the train whistle from afar. She pulls when seeing Mr. Squirrel. I know many dogs are like this, but makes me wonder if for Dorothy it was more.

Food was a transition for Dorotthy. She came from eating who knows but now eats kibble with a very small amount of wet and am more less a grazer. She does enjoy Charlie Bears, and sometimes Buddy’s Biscuits.

"I spend the majority of my time in kitchen and can watch out the door. There are two resident dogs and one came from a rescue situation too so we keep ourselves separated for now. When Auntie DeeDee goes to work, us three girls are in our own crate in the same room. We lay down and are quiet and she leaves the TV on for us. In the evening, I will spend some time laying in the living room close to Auntie DeeDee while the other girls are in another room.

In my forever home, I would like to learn about toys and play. Right now I’m not that interested. I want to be the best walker as I want to be outside… unless you have a fenced yard. I would like to be close to my family. I don’t know kids as of yet. I have been good in the car, maybe some outings… but make sure I’m leashed properly and keep me close.

I came from an Amish puppy mill in northern WI and to foster with very BAD mattings and of course champagne color in my fur. I had my first bath after one week and did great! I’ve come a long way and look forward to sparkling even more as I’m a real gem! Thank you PAS for taking me into your rescue.

If interested in Dorothy, please fill out an application at www.samoyed-rescue.com
