Doorly's Story

**LOCATED IN THE GTA**

Doorly’s named after a Barbadian rum and is a master redecorator as he loves pulling everything out of his crate and dragging his things throughout the house to make it feel more like home and we are HERE FOR IT.

Socially, Doorly could take or leave other dogs - but is friendly nonetheless - he's loving playtime with his foster sister, Cashew, but after a good tussle loves nothing more than a nap in a cat bed.

Doorly’s also independent when it comes to playtime, but hasn’t quite mastered fetch yet - when his foster parent throws the toy/ball, Doorly runs after the ball to see where it went, but doesn't pick it up unless he wants to tease his foster sister. He's curious about his feline foster sibling, but not aggressive in any way. Will come and sniff and sometimes try to engage, but the cat is old and having none of it, and he's easily persuaded away.

When it comes to humans, Doorly’s not scared or overly friendly, sniffing and showing slight curiosity then moving on. He's getting to love affection, looking for pets when he comes out of his crate and doing his upside-down happy dance on the floor before giving himself an all-over body shake. We think Doorly could benefit from having a canine friend in his forever home, because he has a bit of anxiety, which is only natural considering he's always had to fend for himself. He loves his person and only becomes anxious when he's out of their site or in his crate. We haven't determined if that's just FOMO or just isn't used to his crate yet.

We’d consider Doorly to be a medium energy dog who’s not the biggest fan of the winter months, but he does love fluffy snow and is good at burning off energy by playing with his toys in between his naps.

Doorly has recently started dragging his leash and collar to the door when he wants to go out and it’s probably the cutest thing we’ve ever seen! He loves to get out exploring and will stop at every leaf and bush if you let him and will come home exhausted and snooze after a long walk.

Doorly’s potty trained and is currently working on his crate training but is still vocal when his foster leaves for work, barking and crying throughout the day. He does need to be crated, as he tends to be a bit destructive when he’s left alone out of his crate, knocking some things over and chewing others - it's not anxious destruction, it's 'how does this taste' destruction. Or 'maybe this pillow should go here'.

He's working on basic commands (sit/stay/come) and is working on wait when it comes to food. He’s also doing very well with “leave it.”

“He has the most chill personality! He will definitely get attached quickly and is very smart. He will definitely be an amazing pup partner to whoever he ends up with.” – Doorly’s Foster Parent
