Meet Dook (ID 28802/290)
Male/intact - 2 years - 52lbs - Transfer from Shelter Partner
Because Dook was transferred from another shelter, we do not have any information on his previous interactions with kids, cats or dogs.
Dook is a super sweet guy who has endured a lot of suffering in his short life. He arrived at a rural shelter with a BADLY embedded collar. Along with the collar, wire and black material was wrapped and embedded in his flesh. It was very infected, smelled badly and must have been horribly painful. By the time Dook was found he was lethargic and feverish and needed medical intervention immediately. Now Dook is on the mend and ready to find his forever home. He still isn't quite used to being leashed and we have to use great care to walk him on a harness so that we don't irritate his healing neck. He is shy and not used to the big city but he wants to be friends and appreciates a tasty treat, a soft voice and a gentle touch. Dook loves other dogs and would do well in a home with other dogs.
Please note:
At this time, our dog kennels are open for general visitation without a prior appointment. We will, however, be limiting the number of persons in the kennel area at one time, and we appreciate your patience.
Visits with cats and/or critters still require that an appointment be made in advance. To schedule your appointment, please call us at (703) 792-6465, or email us at animalshelter@pwcgov.org.
All persons will be required to wear a face mask when visiting the PWC Animal Shelter. This requirement complies with Governor Ralph Northam's Executive Order No.63 (https://bit.ly/2AnqGXd).
