Donna's Story

Donna has loved, Donna has lost, and yet Donna is still hoping.

Donna is a senior Doberman mix with a graying face and the softest, most trusting eyes. Her body carries the years she's lived, but her heart is wide open - full of love, gentleness, and a quiet joy for simply being close to her people.

Donna's life hasn't been fair. She was once found tied to a tree, left behind and forgotten. Later, she finally knew what it felt like to be loved in a home... only to lose it again when her owner passed away. Through every heartbreak, Donna never hardened. She never stopped trusting humans. She never stopped hoping that someone, somewhere, would choose her and mean it forever.

She is incredibly sweet with people of all ages, including young children. Donna has a way of leaning her whole body into you for hugs, resting her head against your chest like she's saying, "I'm here. I've got you." She's a quiet presence in the home - not much of a barker - and her house manners are impeccable. She politely circles by the door when she needs to go outside, has no desire to climb on furniture, and settles calmly into her crate when left alone.

Walks are one of the simple joys Donna still gets excited about. She may start out with a little eagerness, pulling just enough to remind you she's still got life in her, but with gentle guidance she quickly settles into an easy, peaceful stride. She doesn't need much - just to be included, just to be beside someone.

Donna is looking for a calm, loving home where she can be the only pet - no cats and no other dogs - a place where she doesn't have to compete for affection and can finally exhale, knowing she's safe and staying.
Donna doesn't ask for much. A soft place to rest. A hand to lean into. A human who won't disappear. She has spent her life loving fully, even when it cost her everything. Now, she deserves someone who will love her just as fiercely in return.

If you believe that senior dogs still have so much love to give - and that some souls are worth choosing again and again - Donna is waiting. Please fill out a no-obligation application to meet her.
