Doloris's Story
Special Medical Case – Please Read Entire Bio Before Inquiring

Meet Doloris. This sweet 8-year-old girl is looking for a very special home. One filled with patience, understanding, and lots of love. Doloris has had a tough road and comes with some medical needs. She has only one eye, and unfortunately, she is blind in it. Despite this, she is learning her surroundings and gaining confidence more each day. She also has moderate tartar on her teeth and will need a dental procedure in the future. Doloris has allergies that affect her skin and ears, and she will need to remain on a prescription diet (z/d) to help manage them. She is currently being treated for a skin infection and is already showing great improvement. She’s been wonderfully cooperative with care, allowing her foster to clean her ears, care for her nose folds, and apply medications without fuss. In her foster home, Doloris has made great progress. After a couple of days to adjust, she is doing well with another small dog, though she may get a little grumbly if her space is invaded too much. Because of this, calm, respectful dog companions would be the best fit for her. Doloris can be easily overwhelmed by too much noise and fast movement, so we recommend a home with older children who understand and respect boundaries, or an adult only home. She thrives in a calm, predictable environment. She has already learned how to navigate a dog door and go up and down stairs with a bit of guidance. Such a smart girl! Her favorite place, though, is right next to her person. Whether she’s curled up in a cozy bed or sleeping in a kennel at night, she just wants to be close to her human. Doloris may require ongoing medical care and medications in the future, so her adopter must be prepared and committed to giving her the support she needs. All Doloris is asking for is a quiet, loving home where she can feel safe, comfortable, and cherished. In return, she’ll give you her whole heart. Give us a call if you are interested in learning more about Doloris or would like to schedule an appointment to meet her. She is not currently at the shelter, so an appointment to meet her is required.
