Dolly ***URGENT FOSTER NEEDED***'s Story

Hi. I’m Dolly. I was born on June 30, 2020, in a foster home. I was one of nine puppies born to my mom, Dutchess. My family adopted both of us when I was just a baby. So yes… I grew up with my mom. And I love my family deeply. They love me too — this is not a “bad dog” story. This is a “right home” story.

Let me tell you about me.

I am wicked smart. Like… open-the-door-with-lever-handles smart. I know tons of words — ball, Snoopy (my favorite toy), squirrel (!!!), walk, outside, ride, bedtime, breakfast, dinner… and probably more than I let on. I know sit, down, stay, place, leave it, free, and “walk nice.” I used to know heel too — but honestly, I prefer a good sniffari. Sniffing is my therapy.

I LOVE fetch. I will play forever. Actually forever. I prefer two balls because I don’t love giving one up unless the next one is ready to fly. Fair is fair. When I have space to run, I sound like a galloping horse. I am incredibly fast. Lure coursing? Yes please. I am very sight-driven and I take squirrel patrol very seriously. If you have bunnies, squirrels, or groundhogs… I will see them before you do.

I’ve done obedience training and even some agility. I passed reactivity tests with a stuffed dog and real dogs brought into my yard. Out on walks, I’ve met many dogs — even one that came charging out of a yard growling — and I did not react aggressively. I’m actually a little tentative. I have never had issues with dogs outside of one.

That one is my mom.

Around my first birthday, something shifted between us. I became the instigator in our conflicts. When I’m about to escalate, my body changes — especially my tail. My family knows my tells. When fights happen, I grab and hold. Afterward, I stay on high alert for a few days.

Because of this history, we are never left alone together. I stay in the bedroom when my family leaves (yes, I can open lever doors, thank you very much). I currently take meds. At first, it seemedto help, but it may not be doing much now.

Here’s the important part:

I have never been aggressive with a human. Ever.
I have camped, gone on scout campouts, been the “troop dog,” walked by kids, played with kids, and lived in a busy home. I love car rides. I love couch snuggles. Sometimes I sleep in the big bed. Sometimes I don’t. I’m independent like that.

When someone rings the doorbell, I lose my mind for about 20 seconds. Delivery people are VERY suspicious. The trick? Give me a toy to hold and I calm down quickly. After that, I’m good. I’ll even sit near guests in case they want to pet me. I have excellent dinner manners and don’t beg. I will stay in “place” while you eat. I will politely wait for chicken. (I love chicken.)

I hate the vet. Not dramatic. Just honest.

I am athletic, intelligent, driven, and loyal. I thrive with structure and exercise. I need room to run, games to play, and a human who understands working-dog energy. I would likely do best as the only dog in the home. I am not looking to share space with another dominant female — I’ve already proven that’s not my strength.

My family loves me so much. Rehoming me is heartbreaking for them. They chose to keep my mom because their 13-year-old, who is autistic, is deeply bonded to her. That bond couldn’t be broken. This decision is about preserving peace and safety — not because I’m not loved.

I am loved. Deeply.

But I might shine brightest as someone’s one-and-only adventure partner.

If you want a brilliant, athletic, intensely loyal dog who will play fetch until your arm falls off, cuddle on the couch, patrol the yard for squirrels, and be your shadow… I’m your girl!

Our organization is foster based which means that we really know and understand our dogs personalities as our volunteers live each day in their house with our rescued dogs. Our fosters are available to answer your questions and will give you all the details you need to know about our dogs such as if they are shy, are they outgoing, what is their energy level, are they couch potatoes, love bugs, kissers, lickers, so please do apply and ask our fosters questions - this will ensure you find your pur-fect match in our rescue!

***IFYOU ARE INTERESTED IN FOSTERING OR ADOPTING DOLLY, PPLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AT WWW.MANYPAWSGLOBALRESCUE.ORG***

Many Paws Global Rescue Inc's Adoption Policy
Petfinder Inquiries are NOT an adoption application. If you are interested in adopting, you must fill out an application. After receiving an application via https://manypawsglobalrescue.org/applications-for-adoption/ , we call the potential adopter and explain our process and answer any questions they may have. After the initial call, we then call three personal references, vet reference and landlord (if applicable). Please understand that some animals will get several applications and our main priority is to find the BEST fit for each animal. We do not fully approve applicants until after the meet and great. Due to COVID, we have had to alter our home visits and are hosting calls via Zoom to see the home. In addition, we "Google map" to see what the traffic flow is around the home. After you submit an application, one of the Many Paws member will reach out to you via phone. If we feel the applicant may be a good fit, we set up a time for a meet and greet. Only after the meet and greet, if all goes well, we will then approve applicant and will finalize adoption contracts and fees.
